In 2014, the CDCS Knowledge Institute, in collaboration with the B-safe Foundation, CDCS Communications, and the AgB Alliance Network of Professionals, organized a landmark event titled “Rethinking Agriculture & Agribusiness”—a platform designed to critically examine the future trajectory of Bangladesh’s agri-food sector. As both organizer and contributing researcher, CDCS played a pivotal role in shaping the discourse around transforming traditional agriculture into a modern, market-oriented, and inclusive sector. The event convened a diverse group of stakeholders including sector experts, agribusiness leaders, development practitioners, policymakers, and youth innovators to explore systemic issues such as supply chain inefficiencies, access to finance, food safety, and climate-smart practices. Grounded in evidence-based research and field experience, the discussions emphasized the urgency of adopting integrated strategies that link smallholders to high-value markets, promote entrepreneurship, and leverage technology for productivity gains. The event reinforced the importance of cross-sector collaboration and policy coherence, while positioning agribusiness as a vital engine for rural transformation and sustainable development. Through this initiative, CDCS and its partners underscored their commitment to thought leadership and ecosystem building in the agriculture and agribusiness space.
