The Climate Smart Livestock Practices Landscape Assesment(USDA-ACDI/VOCA)

As climate variability increasingly threatens livestock production systems in Bangladesh, identifying scalable, sustainable, and context-specific solutions has become imperative. To address this, CDCS® partnered with ACDI/VOCA under the USDA-funded Bangladesh Climate Smart Livestock (BCSL) Project to conduct a Landscape Assessment of Climate-Smart Livestock (CSL) Practices in 16 districts. This research serves as a foundational step in designing interventions that can strengthen climate resilience, improve productivity, and promote environmentally sound livestock practices across the country.

The research systematically identified and evaluated the current state of CSL technology adoption in Bangladesh and highlighted innovative, evidence-based solutions for future promotion and scaling. With a focus on five key thematic areas—feed and fodder, breeding and genetics, disease prevention, manure management, and livestock hygiene—CDCS® delivered a strategic assessment to inform policy, programming, and investment in Bangladesh’s livestock development.
