As part of its commitment to advancing agricultural competitiveness in Bangladesh, the Center for Development & Competitive Strategies (CDCS®) took the lead in developing the Market Responsive Agro Value Chain Development Series: Training Manual on Modern Cultivation and Postharvest Management Practices under the USAID-funded Agricultural Value Chains (AVC) Project.
This comprehensive manual was designed to address critical challenges faced by smallholder farmers—particularly the yield gap, postharvest losses, and limited value addition in the agro sector. CDCS® combined its deep sectoral expertise with extensive field insights to create a practical, farmer-friendly guide that equips producers with modern techniques in crop cultivation, harvesting, handling, storage, and market preparation.
By promoting climate-smart and market-oriented practices, the manual empowers farmers to significantly improve agricultural productivity, product quality, and ultimately farm income. CDCS®’s work has been instrumental in building the technical capacity of farmers, extension agents, and value chain actors—contributing to a more efficient, profitable, and inclusive agricultural sector in Bangladesh.
