At the International Conference on Management of Innovation and Sustainability: Vision 2041, held in 2020 at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, an insightful research paper titled “BoP Community’s Intention to Use Agent Banking Services: A Case Study on RMG Employees of an Industrial Sub-district of Bangladesh” was presented, shedding light on the intersection of financial inclusion and digital innovation. Focusing on Ready-Made Garment (RMG) workers—a key segment of Bangladesh’s Base of the Pyramid (BoP) population—the study explored the behavioral drivers and barriers influencing their adoption of agent banking services. Using empirical data collected from an industrial sub-district, the research examined factors such as perceived ease of use, trust, accessibility, and financial literacy, offering critical insights into how underserved populations interact with emerging banking technologies. The findings revealed strong potential for agent banking to serve as a transformative tool for financial inclusion, while also highlighting the need for targeted outreach, customer education, and trust-building measures. The study contributed to broader discussions on inclusive digital finance and sustainable development, positioning agent banking as a scalable solution to bridge the financial divide for low-income, marginalized communities in Bangladesh’s rapidly industrializing economy.
